Cardiac Care Unit Fundraising Campaign

When someone comes to Royal Inland Hospital with a suspected heart attack, treatment options are limited because RIH is missing a cardiac care unit. For a full diagnosis and treatment, patients must be sent to Kelowna or Vancouver - a process that costs money, time, and sometimes lives as patients have died while waiting to be transferred.A local non-profit group is hoping to change this. They are fundraising $500,000 in order to purchase a cardiac catheterization lab - a vital piece of equipment that can perform angioplasty, a process to widen narrowed or obstructed arteries. We spoke with three members of ICCHA Wish Fund about their initiative.
